Today I need to do an outing (and I hope you can relate!):
I hate to iron clothes – I actually never do it!
Don’t get me wrong: I am not going around with a lot of wrinkles in my clothes and neither do my relatives.
I have a few tricks:
- I hang my clothes to dry so they don’t become too wrinkly when they are dry;
- I buy clothes and fabric keeping an eye to their content
- I choose garments that don’t need to be ironed after washing (either when I buy them or when I create them).
You may think it’s restricting for my garment style choices, and in some ways, it is: but I think it’s a great brain exercise too!
Conversely, I do love pressing while I sew 🙂
But… Why am I telling you this? Because I realized that I’m focusing a lot my researches on sewing knits, because they’re the best fabric to achieve a wrinkle-free result, with a minimum maintenance effort required from me.
Pro-tip: best knits are the ones with a 5% (or more) Lycra/spandex content 😉
Add that garments made using knit fabric will softly hug you, without the need for darts and stuff like this: easier and faster to sew, then!
So today I want to collect for you some of the:
