Today I want to share with you one of my most-read blog posts, written for the Craftsy sewing blog.

I chose to write about this topic because I actually hate flat sheets and was in search of some great fitted sheets.

I couldn’t find anything I liked, in the shops: some were too pricey, others too cheap (read: made in see-through fabric). So I decided to DIY and make bed sheets from fitted sheets.

And it looks like there is a lot of people out there with the same problem… glad to be part of the solution 😉

So: if you want to know how to sew bed sheets at home, you’re in the right place!

Bonus: you’ll get a fabulously useful spreadsheet that will do the math for your custom-sized fitted sheets… and it’s free!

Read now everything I have written for the Craftsy sewing blog!

Thanks for this great idea to make fitted sheets out of flat sheets.

  2. This is fantastic, Irene! I made a tutorial like this years ago, but it’s nothing like this one! I love the idea of the calculator! Pinning! 🙂 Lisa

I was so excited to see an app for the sheets but was unable to get it to work. I even downloaded the app.
Disappointed it didn’t work. Guess I will be looking elsewhere. Thanks

      Hi, Jerri!
What’s wrong with the sheet? It’s working on my side… If you could elaborate what problem you’re experiencing, I might help you.
Maybe you’re just not familiar with Google Drive? You really just have to type your measurements in the left chart and read the measurements on the right one, and you’re done!
Please let me know if you like!
      Happy sewing,
